LEGO Mechanical Engineers

In this hands-on engineering camp, campers step into the role of Mechanical Engineers as they design, build, and test moving LEGO® machines. Through creative challenges, campers explore how simple machines work together to create motion and solve real-world problems.

Campers will learn how to:

• Design and build moving LEGO® models using gears, wheels, levers, and pulleys

• Explore mechanical engineering concepts and how simple machines create motion

• Apply the engineering design process: imagine, build, test, and improve

• Strengthen problem-solving skills through hands-on experimentation and iteration

• Practice collaboration and communication while sharing ideas and refining designs

Through open-ended building challenges and guided prompts, campers are encouraged to think like engineers—testing mechanisms, troubleshooting designs, and improving their machines through iteration. No prior experience is required for most campers; however, 6-year-olds with prior experience in coding and/or robotics are welcome to enroll. This camp is designed to build confidence while introducing foundational mechanical engineering concepts in a fun, engaging way.

By the end of the camp, campers will have created original moving machines and creative automata, developed core STEAM skills, and showcased their designs in a final engineering showcase.
